A  lot has happened in the last 8 weeks. I have created 75 sites, & 3 blogs  one of my blogs had 28 comments in one day !! I am testing a couple of breakthrough theories. If my calculations are correct – this will eliminate the need to engage SEO companies – How much money will you save !!!

Anyway i set up an affiliate site to get some real upto date date for my posts. I have increased my income by 20 percent in the past 8 weeks. I would like to increase it a further 20% in the next 8weeks !!!

Now tools of trade – If you don’t have a smart phone – GET ONE !!! You can’t run an online business without information in real time at you fingertips – Your competition is way ahead of you – Why are all the multi-nationals developing apps for the i-phone and why is google released its own application for smart phones Android I will start adding regular posts from here on end. For a Moment think about the countries which have oil deposits ? Oil is a natural resource &  Yes the countries that have deposits were blessed in a financial sense and have reaped enormous benefits with this natural resource. Now ponder the biggest find for the past 15 years !!!

Industries have spent millions in brand research to ensure their long term success. When I was consulting in the relocation’s industry a while back, we conducted a study to find the buying habbits of women when it came to choosing a preferred removalist. The main reasons were

Obviously this is not true in all industries, but the niche we were targeting wasn’t broad and these were the results.

Efficiency reduces Down Time

As with everything in life – reduce the clutter & you will become more productive. As such you should have as few online platforms to conduct your online business. You see if you use a different service for your different tasks,  the time taken to log in & out of these on a daily basis adds to considerable downtime which in fact will eat into your bottom line. For example how many times have you checked you email & started reading a totally irrelevant communication which cost you 20 minutes of productive time. Netvibes dashboard has all my important daily tasks in one central place.  It has a to-do list which ensures I don’t get distracted and concentrate on the daily task on hand. I have used a few Blogging services such as Joomla, Blooger & Wordpress amongst others. Setting these up is not difficult, however needs to be done at the begining to make your journey simpler and more enjoyable.  As it will be a easy step by step guide, I will dedicate the next post to Netvibes & Wordpress. I always come back to Wordpress because of the ease of use and they have an app plugin for almost everything.

No One is Born into a profession or as an  entrepreneur. The Gynecologist doesn’t go to the tea room screaming he/she has just delivered 2 doctors and a c section birth of  a lawyer (even though we would love to do this to most lawyers LOL) and an early morning  Booking for a teacher – straight after his round of golf oh yeah and a professional golfer is booked in for delivery at the end of the week. If we could deliver professionals in the birthing suite… the presents will be so much easier to buy!

Granted we all take our parents genes and traits, but importantly we are a product of our environment. A farmer’s son with an IQ of a genius will aspire to run his Dad’s Farm as this is all he has been taught…. If he had his IQ tested and he was told he was a genius – he probably would end up owning & running all the farms in the region.

“A taxi driver at the ripe age of 40 had an IQ test. The testers thought there was a mistake – so they tested him again. He was bordering on genius. The next day he bought the taxi company and become the boss and grew that company to great heights.” You see as a student he was always bored.. So he disrupted class. His teachers kept telling him he won’t amount to anything as he did not have the concentration span or the desire to learn. His parents were disappointed with him as he was the only one in the family to get bad reports… he was an embarrassment to the conservative family…… The years of conditioning broke his spirit and he believed he was destined to fail as that is what all those teachers and principals kept telling him all his life.

The moral of this story is to take charge  don’t let anyone else dictate your success. You are destined for greatness – Seize the day and grab what is rightfully yours.

Conditioning

“NO”  The dreaded word from our childhood. Unsuspecting parents use this word to control & educate their offspring. No, No, No…. the greater the lesson the more Nos….

EXAMPLES… Child Writes on the freshly painted walls… Mum comes screaming NO, No, No..

Child wants an ice-cream in a shopping mall… Parent says NO. A 10 year old will accept this as he has been conditioned to accept the word no. A three year old will Kick & Scream until either of two things happen. The parent buys them the ice-cream as they are embarrassed at the gigantic scene they are creating with all eyes at the shopping mall on them. Alternatively the parent packs up and leaves the mall with the child.  Lesson: The three year old is not conditioned to accept the word no…. He persisted in his quest to achieve the desired outcome. This is what we need to do.! Reeducate ourselves to reach new heights without being restricted by our negative conditioning.  The world’s great salespeople educate themselves to love the word “No.” Every time a potential client say’s “No” they smile and start their job to sell them a … you guessed it a “Yes”.

You Want to become what ? You Can’t do that ?

My parent’s generation did not encourage sports. It was not the way to a bright future. They encouraged traditionally schooling and the minimum was a degree which would guarantee a future filled with prosperity. How do you achieve prosperity at $50-$100K per annum!! Doable but rather difficult. Today the superstars of sport are earning millions and most are passionate about their sport. All have had an environment where their skills were recognized and natured throughout their life and all have skill and mental coaches to stay at the top of their game.

Today witht the web we can reach every corner of the globe. Why restrict your market to your street, suburb, city… Our parents and grandparents did not have this opportunity so what worked in their market is obsolete in today’s business climate. We will look at this in another post “Drilling for Oil” next week.

Ninety(90%) Mental & Ten(10%) Skill

We have all heard this saying. Mental preparation & toughness is the reason why underdogs often topple the league ladders. A team at the top of its game needs to take the field in the same mental frame that got them to that level no matter who their opponent is. If their go on the field without the mental fitness and underestimate their rivals from the bottom of the league… where the opponent has prepared relentlessly both mentally & physically for the contest than  the underdogs could well steal the league ladder leaders thunder… How many times has this happened in the A league, NBA, AFL, Indy, F1, V8 super Cars etc etc.

Don’t get me wrong…. Skills are an important factor… If two opponents are perfectly matched in their mental preparation, the one with the better strategy & skill will end up winning. It is simply not thebe all & end all. You see Beyonce Knowles
can dance, run Do acrobatics and still hold a note… Why & how …. Her Dad made her run on a treadmill whilst singing.. this training & conditioning has enabled her to make this feat look effortless (oh yeah and she can sing !!)  Tiger or Cheetah (PUN) Woods’ dad made him practice his golf from a mere small child….André Agassi… Countless hours of practice – even though it wasn’t a passion made him the optimal player he was. Whilst all have the skill, the development, practice and mental conditioning puts these elite at the top of their game.

Ok What does this have to do with my business ?

Business is a competition… However the stakes are higher – Let me explain. Unlike sports where only two people or two teams compete for one result which would move them up on the competition ladder , Business is a competition where you are competing with 1,2,10-1000+ competitors for the one customer depending on the industry . In new niches the suppliers flood to get a piece of the action to the point where the market is saturated with competition and the potential for profit is greatly diminished.. In mature niches only the companies with the best value proposition for the customer, a Distinct point of difference and better mental conditioning will survive. The message here is get mentally fit, provide value added services, exceed customer expectations and beat the opposition.

Today More than ever we can reach a global audience. This is going to be the subject of a later post.

What is the Million Dollar Baby?

Definition : I will be commencing on a journey to create an Online Business with the main aim of having the business grow into a E-Commerce site generating $$$$  24/7 ( The Strategies, Principles & Methodology will also apply to traditional non-web type businesses).

The site will be updated reguarly (with posts no longer than a week apart – Usually one every couple of days) to give you an insight into what it takes to commence and run a successful business. Having started numerous successful businesses (See Profile Page – www.MakeMoneyHq.net), I do have some authority when it comes to growing a business quickly.  It took me 3 years for my turnover to reach $ 1 million dollars in 2001 – 2002 financial year. I achieved $6 million annual turnover 5 years later (mostly attributed to my company websites).

Accordingly “I have the knowledge and the experience” to create  a successful enterprise online.

The State we operated in had 4 million people – Online I have a potential audience of One Hundred Million and no geographical boundaries – Do you think I am excited?

Did you just have that “AHA” Moment – ( If you Didn’t – carefully read the last  sentence slowly absorbing every word ) Isn’t it very likely that  I will reach $1 million turnover much sooner than previously.

WHY ?

Million Dollar Baby – Why this Project ?

WHY NOT  ? OK let me explain, When I commenced my Transport Business I had a dream to be a Transport Magnate. I passionately pursued this Dream. Once I reached my targets I set my self higher goals. Cast your mind back to 1999. (Those of you who are Gen Y probably can’t remember LOL) – The dreaded Y2K bug.!!! Well we all survived it didn’t we?. Fast forward to 2006 – After teaching myself HTML coding I had developed 5 websites (A world away from the first site I did with Microsoft front page !!. , These sites helped me grow at the rate of around 40%  per annum When you are talking  multi -million  dollar turnover that’s a lot of “Mullah” passing through your hands.

The idea of this project came to me when I was at a coffee shop waiting for my car to get washed. I remember thinking whether the guys washing my car were aware that there are much simpler way to make a living. It than occurred to me that these guys were not aware  of the huge opportunities available to all of us today. My role will be to empower these guys and all of you who have been searching for the right answers by making them aware. What you do after you are aware is directly up to you.  Once I decided this was it – I started feeling the passion return. (It was missing since selling my business in 2007)  Needless to sayI rushed home – did some keyword research and registered a url)

When I get butterflies in my stomach & passion running through my veins – I know I have to take ACTION and seize the opportunity.

Prior to deciding to be a open book for the next year. (To have this captive audience wasn’t part of the original plan) – it was, this Car Wash “AHA” moment at the end of last year.  Will the Questions and having an interactive forum slow my progress Down !! Yes of course it will !!`

Why is it important that I do it ! – Well all through the noughties I grew my business through meticulous research, trial and error, $$$$$$ spend on products. Products like Perry Marshall’s definitive guide to Adwords,   Ewen Chia’s EBooks, Mark Filsame’s email lists, How to get PPC for free & the list goes on & on & on. Five percent of these products have content that will help and only a few authors are really  interested in helping you grow your business. I will be evaluating  some of these products and outling how they have helped me during the course of our journey. Remember  5% is useful content & he other  95% is  fluff !!

To use a transport phrase “TOPLOAD” “ 95% of Ebooks are top loaded – 95% is Dense or heavy  freight (Fluff) and the fragile items on top  5% (Topload – the useful content)  .

Why don’t these guys just give us the 5% – WHY – because you will quickly figure out that you know more than them !!  It is frustrating that they hide the little they know in rehashed articles they copy from articles all over the net !

“Do yourself a favour – Stop buying any products from these guys.”

The only person laughing all the way to the bank are them.  I can say I wish there was someone leading me through the maze – but the reality is the Internet was at its infancy – everyone was trying to make sense of it !

I will be adding and evolving  a products page where you will see links directly to the vendor. These products are what I have personally used for my businesses. These are optional products, but they will be of great benefit to help your business.

The power brokers were out in force saying it was a faze and the bubble will burst – nothing will replace the print media etc etc .. Well who is eating their words now. You know, the pleasure of imparting the knowledge gained is satisfaction enough. Knowing that i am giving back after enjoying many years of success over the past 15 years.

Passion – (to be truly successful you need to be passionate about your niche. – If you lack passion for this project – don’t join us –go and do some soul searching -  Find yourself and when you return, the posts will be in archives and you can catch up whenever you are ready. 3. Brain Storm – What drives you? What are you passionate about ? What makes your eyes sparkle when you talk about it ?  Is it golf, Writing, Collecting Art,  Starting  a Business, growing a business…. Chose your NICHE.

Investing time on your business will be fun – you won’t notice it and you won’t treat it as work. When I had my Previous Business – I was actually on my laptop in front of the TV, creating blogs, SEO, etc etc until the wee hours of the morning – Boy that was enjoyable! There is a certain sense of achievement when you twig a small change and wait for the search engines to drive our site right to the top. !!! The so called experts could not achieve this !

URL : Start thinking about a URL related to your Niche. Find the many keywords (more on this at launch) If you want to go global ( recommended) than try to get a  dotcom or  dotnet. If these are taken for your major keywords add a hypen. For example golfskills.com would become www.Golf-Skills.com or Add words like HQ or My so it becomes www.mygolfskills.com www.mygolf-skills.com www.golfskillsh.net www.GolfSkills-Site.com or www.Improve-GolfSkills.com A dotcom is always preferable. But if it is gone dotnet is fine. We will be going global so concentrate on these two top domain extensions. Once we have launched,  6-12 months down the track you may want to invest in local extensions & DotAsia etc to protect your brand. If you have an URL already and it doesn’t have the main keyword from your niche – buy another one … You see once we have optimsed the term – it would achieve higher ranking than a non related URL. At $10 -$30 US Dollars it is not a great expense.

How ?

Now I really want you to pay attention. Websites are your very own shop on the net. We don’t have to invest in infrastructure such as  buildings and fitouts like Walmart, Starbucks, Aldi, Ikea and other retailers. The advantage we do have over these mighty giants is  that we have the potential to market our wares to the biggest Global Audience the world has ever seen. The current internet community is growing by the millions per week. Armed with this knowledge, I will roll out relevant information to help these budding new webprenuers.

Why did I call this the million dollar baby !! Well with the journey we all are about to undertake we will eventually end up with different levels of success in all area of our lives. You have to say that google is the great innovator – They are not re – inventing the wheel but innovating. By value adding to the offering of  Facebook, Myspace & Twitter they surely are on a winner.

When they rolled out Gmail -0 do you think they had a number – A number of email accounts reached before they rolled out Google Buzz – No setup fee and  already a  captive & loyal audience.  Man talk about legislators  not being able to control monopolys,  duopolys  & the like.  With Google’s might there is no stopping them. Good luck to them – When your revenue rivals whole countries GDP – you have some serious power !!

It will be interesting to see how Google Buzz Pans out.

Side note :  Do not violate their policies as they will lock you down. If you are generating $10,000  a month from Ebay & they close you for 7 days that’s a lot of dough you miss out on.
