What is the Million Dollar Baby?

Definition : I will be commencing on a journey to create an Online Business with the main aim of having the business grow into a E-Commerce site generating $$$$ 24/7 ( The Strategies, Principles & Methodology will also apply to traditional non-web type businesses).

The site will be updated reguarly (with posts no longer than a week apart – Usually one every couple of days) to give you an insight into what it takes to commence and run a successful business. Having started numerous successful businesses (See Profile Page – www.MakeMoneyHq.net), I do have some authority when it comes to growing a business quickly. It took me 3 years for my turnover to reach $ 1 million dollars in 2001 – 2002 financial year. I achieved $6 million annual turnover 5 years later (mostly attributed to my company websites).

Accordingly “I have the knowledge and the experience” to create a successful enterprise online.

The State we operated in had 4 million people – Online I have a potential audience of One Hundred Million and no geographical boundaries – Do you think I am excited?

Did you just have that “AHA” Moment – ( If you Didn’t – carefully read the last sentence slowly absorbing every word ) Isn’t it very likely that I will reach $1 million turnover much sooner than previously.

WHY ?

WHY NOT ? OK let me explain, When I commenced my Transport Business I had a dream to be a Transport Magnate. I passionately pursued this Dream. Once I reached my targets I set my self higher goals. Cast your mind back to 1999. (Those of you who are Gen Y probably can’t remember LOL) – The dreaded Y2K bug.!!! Well we all survived it didn’t we?. Fast forward to 2006 – After teaching myself HTML coding I had developed 5 websites (A world away from the first site I did with Microsoft front page !!. , These sites helped me grow at the rate of around 40% per annum When you are talking multi -million dollar turnover that’s a lot of “Mullah” passing through your hands.

The idea of this project came to me when I was at a coffee shop waiting for my car to get washed. I remember thinking whether the guys washing my car were aware that there are much simpler way to make a living. It than occurred to me that these guys were not aware of the huge opportunities available to all of us today. My role will be to empower these guys and all of you who have been searching for the right answers by making them aware. What you do after you are aware is directly up to you. Once I decided this was it – I started feeling the passion return. (It was missing since selling my business in 2007) Needless to sayI rushed home – did some keyword research and registered a url)

When I get butterflies in my stomach & passion running through my veins – I know I have to take ACTION and seize the opportunity.

Prior to deciding to be a open book for the next year. (To have this captive audience wasn’t part of the original plan) – it was, this Car Wash “AHA” moment at the end of last year. Will the Questions and having an interactive forum slow my progress Down !! Yes of course it will !!`

Why is it important that I do it ! – Well all through the noughties I grew my business through meticulous research, trial and error, $$$$$$ spend on products. Products like Perry Marshall’s definitive guide to Adwords, Ewen Chia’s EBooks, Mark Filsame’s email lists, How to get PPC for free & the list goes on & on & on. Five percent of these products have content that will help and only a few authors are really interested in helping you grow your business. I will be evaluating some of these products and outling how they have helped me during the course of our journey. Remember 5% is useful content & he other 95% is fluff !!

To use a transport phrase “TOPLOAD” “ 95% of Ebooks are top loaded – 95% is Dense or heavy freight (Fluff) and the fragile items on top 5% (Topload – the useful content) .

Why don’t these guys just give us the 5% – WHY – because you will quickly figure out that you know more than them !! It is frustrating that they hide the little they know in rehashed articles they copy from articles all over the net !

The only person laughing all the way to the bank are them. I can say I wish there was someone leading me through the maze – but the reality is the Internet was at its infancy – everyone was trying to make sense of it !

I will be adding and evolving a products page where you will see links directly to the vendor. These products are what I have personally used for my businesses. These are optional products, but they will be of great benefit to help your business.

The power brokers were out in force saying it was a faze and the bubble will burst – nothing will replace the print media etc etc .. Well who is eating their words now. You know, the pleasure of imparting the knowledge gained is satisfaction enough. Knowing that i am giving back after enjoying many years of success over the past 15 years.

The scope of this project and case study is to arm you with the tools required to achieve phenomenal success in Business whether online or traditional bricks & mortar type business. The principles and strategies are the same whether you are looking to achieve $5000 per month or $100,000 per month – My job is to get your Mindset right & empower you with the resources to make your dreams become a reality. Prelude to Official Kickoff Well take a few minute and decide whether you will commit to the project. Clear out your diary and work out how many hours a week you are prepared to commit. Commitment levels are different for each individual. When I first decided to structure the project in this way I have been averaging 4-5 hours sleep every night. It is the passion which drives me.

Ok..If you are reading on, Chances are that you have decided to join in the crusade. Congratulations on taking the first sep. What I ask now are

1. Commitment (At least for the duration of 2010) Whether its an hour r 10 hours a week devoted to your business. I realize most of you have work commitments – If you are really serious you might need to cut into some of your social time. In 12 months hopefully you will have much more leisure time than ever before so it will be worth it.

2. Passion – (to be truly successful you need to be passionate about your niche. – If you lack passion for this project – don’t join us –go and do some soul searching - Find yourself and when you return, the posts will be in archives and you can catch up whenever you are ready. Ensure you are passionate about this journey. The more passionate you are the greater the effect on your life.

3. Brain Storm – What drives you? What are you passionate about ? What makes your eyes sparkle when you talk about it ? Is it golf, Writing, Collecting Art, Starting a Business, growing a business…. Chose your NICHE.

Investing time on your business will be fun – you won’t notice it and you won’t treat it as work. When I had my Previous Business – I was actually on my laptop in front of the TV, creating blogs, SEO, etc etc until the wee hours of the morning – Boy that was enjoyable! There is a certain sense of achievement when you twig a small change and wait for the search engines to drive our site right to the top. !!! The so called experts could not achieve this !

URL : Start thinking about a URL related to your Niche. Find the many keywords (more on this at launch) If you want to go global ( recommended) than try to get a dotcom or dotnet. If these are taken for your major keywords add a hypen. For example golfskills.com would become www.Golf-Skills.com or Add words like HQ or My so it becomes www.mygolfskills.com www.mygolf-skills.com www.golfskillsh.net www.GolfSkills-Site.com or www.Improve-GolfSkills.com A dotcom is always preferable. But if it is gone dotnet is fine. We will be going global so concentrate on these two top domain extensions. Once we have launched, 6-12 months down the track you may want to invest in local extensions & DotAsia etc to protect your brand. If you have an URL already and it doesn’t have the main keyword from your niche – buy another one … You see once we have optimsed the term – it would achieve higher ranking than a non related URL. At $10 -$30 US Dollars it is not a great expense.

How ?

Now I really want you to pay attention. Websites are your very own shop on the net. We don’t have to invest in infrastructure such as buildings and fitouts like Walmart, Starbucks, Aldi, Ikea and other retailers. The advantage we do have over these mighty giants is that we have the potential to market our wares to the biggest Global Audience the world has ever seen. The current internet community is growing by the millions per week. Armed with this knowledge, I will roll out relevant information to help these budding new webprenuers.

One of my Key Beliefs has been :

I currently have a couple of successful shops on Ebay selling niche products, An SEO & internet consulting business as well as a lead generation business. For the purposes of Million Dollar Baby, I will concentrate on Affiliate Marketing - something I have been passionate about for about 5 years now. In My humble opinion, Affiliate Marketing is the easiest and least complicated way to launch a business. I will still cover the other areas – especially Ebay – but Affiliate Marketing is going to be our core business for the next 12 months.

Why did I call this the million dollar baby !! Well with the journey we all are about to undertake we will eventually end up with different levels of success in all area of our lives. The amount of success you will enjoy will be based on your commitment on this project. I really would like you to now ask yourself – Can I commit for the next 11 months to a project which has the potential to free me for the rest of my life. Once you are on board there is no turning back. All you need to do is keep reading my posts and taking at least one idea and applying it to your journey. Why the Million Dollar Baby – Well it is worth what we want it to be worth. You see someone earning $150,000 per annum is deemed to be extremely successful.
