If you are onboard than you already have your niche worked out and bought yourself a domain. Now We need to take ACTION.
To be truly successful in your chosen arena you need to firstly look at where you are & what has held you back from achieving all that you can.
Social Beliefs, Generational Limitations
Social Beliefs, Generational Limitations & Traditional Schooling are among the greatest killers of entrepreneurial spirit in my opinion. The purpose of this post is to evaluate where you are in your journey, analyze the results and get you on the path of RE-Education. If we jump head first into our million dollar project – 90% of you will fail because of the Social Conditioning, Education and life experiences you have had to date. At the end of your reading you must be AWARE of what it is that has held you back , embrace the teaching and unleash the potential within. Let go of the Family & Social Conditioning you have endured all your life.
“BE ALL YOU CAN BE ”
“A man earns $100,000 per annum” 90% of people will applaud him and consider his income to be great. Why ? Social Standing & Education teach us that this is a very good income level. You see limitations are placed on us by society. We have never been taught, or never expect ourselves to earn $100,000 a month or $1,000,000 per month. Are these figures plausible and achievable ? Of course they are. Now don’t get too excited – achieving these levels of income takes time, knowledge & ACTION. You see most written books & journals will equipe you with the right tools but the missing ingredient in these publications is ACTION. Action taken now & every day to get you closer to your goals.
Think & Grow Rich was the first bok that really canged my life. over the years I have seen business people struggling and I considered my self fortunate to have read this bible. Years later some of this business people had failed but had also read the book and so I started to analyze why. The answer was obvious. You see Napoleaon Hill Gave you all the tools , traits and lessons to succeeded. He did not formulate the key strategies – this was upto the individual. What was missing was ACTION & HARDWORK. You see I was passionate about my transport company so I had a laptop by my side almost everwhere I went. Watching TV at midnight with the laptop on working on my new website…. I did not know it than but I realised that what I considered relaxation was actually working & as I was passionate about my transport company – It really wasn’t an effort. No One is Born into a profession or as an entrepreneur. The Gynecologist doesn’t go to the tea room screaming he/she has just delivered 2 doctors and a c section birth of a lawyer (even though we would love to do this to most lawyers LOL) and an early morning Booking for a teacher – straight after his round of golf oh yeah and a professional golfer is booked in for delivery at the end of the week. If we could deliver professionals in the birthing suite… the presents will be so much easier to buy!
Granted we all take our parents genes and traits, but importantly we are a product of our environment. A farmer’s son with an IQ of a genius will aspire to run his Dad’s Farm as this is all he has been taught…. If he had his IQ tested and he was told he was a genius – he probably would end up owning & running all the farms in the region.
“A taxi driver at the ripe age of 40 had an IQ test. The testers thought there was a mistake – so they tested him again. He was bordering on genius. The next day he bought the taxi company and become the boss and grew that company to great heights.” You see as a student he was always bored.. So he disrupted class. His teachers kept telling him he won’t amount to anything as he did not have the concentration span or the desire to learn. His parents were disappointed with him as he was the only one in the family to get bad reports… he was an embarrassment to the conservative family…… The years of conditioning broke his spirit and he believed he was destined to fail as that is what all those teachers and principals kept telling him all his life.
The moral of this story is to take charge don’t let anyone else dictate your success. You are destined for greatness – Seize the day and grab what is rightfully yours.
Conditioning
“NO” The dreaded word from our childhood. Unsuspecting parents use this word to control & educate their offspring. No, No, No…. the greater the lesson the more Nos….
EXAMPLES… Child Writes on the freshly painted walls… Mum comes screaming NO, No, No..
Child wants an ice-cream in a shopping mall… Parent says NO. A 10 year old will accept this as he has been conditioned to accept the word no. A three year old will Kick & Scream until either of two things happen. The parent buys them the ice-cream as they are embarrassed at the gigantic scene they are creating with all eyes at the shopping mall on them. Alternatively the parent packs up and leaves the mall with the child. Lesson: The three year old is not conditioned to accept the word no…. He persisted in his quest to achieve the desired outcome. This is what we need to do.! Reeducate ourselves to reach new heights without being restricted by our negative conditioning. The world’s great salespeople educate themselves to love the word “No.” Every time a potential client say’s “No” they smile and start their job to sell them a … you guessed it a “Yes”.
You Want to become what ? You Can’t do that ?
My parent’s generation did not encourage sports. It was not the way to a bright future. They encouraged traditionally schooling and the minimum was a degree which would guarantee a future filled with prosperity. How do you achieve prosperity at $50-$100K per annum!! Doable but rather difficult. Today the superstars of sport are earning millions and most are passionate about their sport. All have had an environment where their skills were recognized and natured throughout their life and all have skill and mental coaches to stay at the top of their game.
Today witht the web we can reach every corner of the globe. Why restrict your market to your street, suburb, city… Our parents and grandparents did not have this opportunity so what worked in their market is obsolete in today’s business climate. We will look at this in another post “Drilling for Oil” next week.
Ninety(90%) Mental & Ten(10%) Skill
We have all heard this saying. Mental preparation & toughness is the reason why underdogs often topple the league ladders. A team at the top of its game needs to take the field in the same mental frame that got them to that level no matter who their opponent is. If their go on the field without the mental fitness and underestimate their rivals from the bottom of the league… where the opponent has prepared relentlessly both mentally & physically for the contest than the underdogs could well steal the league ladder leaders thunder… How many times has this happened in the A league, NBA, AFL, Indy, F1, V8 super Cars etc etc.
Don’t get me wrong…. Skills are an important factor… If two opponents are perfectly matched in their mental preparation, the one with the better strategy & skill will end up winning. It is simply not thebe all & end all. You see Beyonce Knowles
can dance, run Do acrobatics and still hold a note… Why & how …. Her Dad made her run on a treadmill whilst singing.. this training & conditioning has enabled her to make this feat look effortless (oh yeah and she can sing !!) Tiger or Cheetah (PUN) Woods’ dad made him practice his golf from a mere small child….André Agassi… Countless hours of practice – even though it wasn’t a passion made him the optimal player he was. Whilst all have the skill, the development, practice and mental conditioning puts these elite at the top of their game.
Ok What does this have to do with my business ?
Business is a competition… However the stakes are higher – Let me explain. Unlike sports where only two people or two teams compete for one result which would move them up on the competition ladder , Business is a competition where you are competing with 1,2,10-1000+ competitors for the one customer depending on the industry . In new niches the suppliers flood to get a piece of the action to the point where the market is saturated with competition and the potential for profit is greatly diminished.. In mature niches only the companies with the best value proposition for the customer, a Distinct point of difference and better mental conditioning will survive. The message here is get mentally fit, provide value added services, exceed customer expectations and beat the opposition.
Today More than ever we can reach a global audience. This is going to be the subject of a later post.
Over the next 5 days – Cleanse yourself of the negative conditioning you have become accustomed to and let’s dig in and start embracing all that we can be.
